Milang Takeaway is a straightforward local cafe-style takeaway spot tucked into Shop 1/17 Daranda Terrace, serving up fresh and hearty meals, especially for those craving a reliable fish and chips fix or a satisfying burger. This isn’t a sit-down restaurant, but rather a well-loved grab-and-go place where locals and visitors passing through Milang find convenient, no-nonsense food that feels homemade and thoughtfully prepared.

The current owners, a young local duo, have refreshed the menu with a focus on quality and consistency that’s earned positive chatter in the area. You’ll find a variety of fish options such as butter fish, Coorong mullet, and flake, alongside classic takeaway staples: sandwiches like egg & bacon or ham & cheese toasties, and a decent lineup of burgers including chicken schnitzel, beef schnitzel, and veggie choices. It’s clear from the feedback that the fish is well-loved for its freshness and the chicken schnitzel reliably moist and flavorful.

This takeaway is especially handy for a casual meal after exploring the nearby caravan park or if you’re traveling the Lakes region and need a solid, quick bite. The vibe here is unpretentious; friendly service is a hallmark, with staff regularly praised for their welcoming attitude and genuinely caring approach to customer experience.

Milang Takeaway works best as a lunch or early dinner pit stop when you want a comforting meal without fuss. The portions are generous enough to satisfy a hearty appetite, but it’s also practical for families or folks who want something tasty and straightforward without the wait of full sit-down dining. Some dishes, like the chicken tenders and yiros, stand out for their homemade seasoning and generous size, making this a spot where locals come back after discovering the menu.

While the food mostly hits the mark, some components like batter texture or seasoning can vary slightly, which feels natural for a small local operation that’s evidently still perfecting its offerings. The gravy here draws real affection, adding a bit of home-style warmth to meals.

Overall, Milang Takeaway fits into Milang’s local landscape as a practical, friendly spot keeping the tradition of the town’s fish and chip shop alive but with a new energy. It works well for anyone passing through who wants a straightforward, satisfying meal with a side of friendly local service.

New owners, who are young and local, providing a great new menu… it is awesome to have the fish & chip shop up and running again with people who care about providing good quality food and consistent quality service. The chicken I purchased was deliciously moist and scrumptious, chips perfectly cooked and everything seasoned just right! Good luck to Nik & Will, I definitely will be making this a regular destination.

Wow, was not expecting things to be this good. Got the Coorong Mullet, (now one of my favourite fish) some prawns, calamari and a potato cake. The Muller was delicious a cross between delicate flakey fish and buttery scallop flavour, divine. Prawns and calamari were tender and perfectly cooked with great flavour. The potato cake/fritter/scallop was enormous and obviously hand made. Up there with the best I've had, crispy batter and more potato than it. Price is well worth it. Get on these potato cakes, only two bucks each.

amazing, friendly service, spectacular yiros, best ive ever eaten, very juicy, meaty, so huge couldn't eat it in one sitting, the 4 pack of chicken tenders, so mouth watering and yummy, they were so huge only 3 would fit in the take away box, they taste like rosemary, not too overpowering, not too faint, so delicious they would definitely be home made 100/100 would definitely order from here again.

Great little take away place short walk from the caravan park. Owners are friendly and welcoming. Nice choice of takeaway meals. Fish and chips were great, though the batter was a little chewy. Chicken schnitzel was really yummy but the only down side was it was a little salty. Gravy is to die for though. Meals are really good value. Please make sure you support places like this and get them back in business after Covid
